A quickie.
shots & cuts
The Colour Bar is meant to be on a break this week, courtesy some exciting things cooking. (Much is exciting while cooking, but the meal itself remains to be eaten. So to speak).
But I thought I would do a version of ‘Shots from The Colour Bar’ which I started doing on Linkedin last week as a post.
’Shots’, ‘Bar’, quickly shared tidbits. Geddit?
I know, genius.
Cheers,
Shakey
But first a couple of goodies to watch

· Four Letters ·
Four letter words have a bad image. All thanks to one errant member. But, cool is also a four letter word.
YETI dropped ‘Four Letters’ - this great piece with the kind of of punchy, rhythmic, powerful copy + text vibes that made that old promo producer in me quite joyful.
Alex Maleski shared it on LInkedin with a post entirely mae up of four letter words. Nice.

The team at Studio Birthplace made this striking little piece as part of the Change Drivers series. Simple content, elevated visuals.
This was with restaurateur and food waste pioneer Douglas McMaster., founder of the world’s first zero-waste restaurant, Silo London.
“Douglas reminds us that waste is not natural; it’s a human thing. And if we designed our systems more like nature, where nothing is thrown away, we could transform one of the most harmful systems on our planet.”

Students in the US booed Eric Schimdit when his commencement speech spoke of AI. Elsewhere, students booed another speaker who dared touch on AI. I guess young people being anti-AI really is a thing!
But also, another student cohort walked out of Jaonathan Haidt’s commencement address. Maybe anti-speeches is also a thing?YouTube declared this the YouTube Era’. Ok then, I thought we have been inhabiting the YouTube era for a some time now? No?
Jim Louderback warned us why such proclamations are dodgy.Spotify changed its logo to shiny disco ball thingy. This was in celebration of our lifetime listening journey (oh, and their 20th anniversary). People moaned and gagged at the retro maximalism of it all. So Spotify said, oh yeah, “glitter isn’t for everyone. We’ll change it back.” But then some people clamoured that it was great, and they wanted it for themselves please! Classic online love/hate.
France announced its World Cup squad with a video that is meant to feel like an outdated saccharine sweet American sitcom. I guess it works?
I was amused by a video debating the value of the phrase ‘I Love You’. The dialogue had vaguely Tarantino feels- meandering, curious, compelling, a bit self-indulgent.
It was from singer Noga Erez and was meant to tease the drop of their new single called, erm, I Love You. The fact that I didn’t know Noga helped.
That’s all folks, too many shots can’t be good for you at this age.
And apparently, who drinks anymore?
